Aluminium Glass Windows North Lakes
The run from our Brendale workshop out to North Lakes is roughly 15 km, about 13 minutes by road on a routing estimate. On window work that closeness earns its keep, because a house full of openings gets measured one at a time before a single frame is cut. Every window is made at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, then fitted by our own installers on a run we’re already doing through the Moreton Bay corridor. We don’t have a North Lakes office and won’t pretend to.
Why North Lakes chooses custom aluminium glass windows
Twenty-five years is roughly how long the oldest houses out this way have been standing. Building started around 1999 to 2000, so the houses here are largely one era of project builds. The 2021 census counted 8,135 private dwellings, and 84.9% of the occupied ones are separate houses, above the Queensland average of 74.8%. Similar age. Similar builders. Similar layouts. Similar spec.
So the windows tend to wear out in batches rather than one at a time. Ones fitted together reach the end of their good years together, and the faults are the ordinary ones an aging window develops: a slider that drags, a latch that won’t catch, a cracked pane, a frame gone chalky on the western wall. Repairing or replacing them is work we do. Nothing dramatic. Just a house full of windows aging together.
That turns a repair into a matching problem. Replace two windows on a wall of five and the new frames sit beside the old ones for years afterwards. Get the profile or the colour wrong and you’d notice it every time you pulled into the driveway.
We make every window to measure at the Brendale factory, so the size comes off your opening. Five styles get built there: sliding, awning, casement, double-hung and louvre, in Vantage aluminium systems with Breezeway blades in the louvres. Frame colour, finish and glass type are your call, which is how a new window ends up matching the ones you’re keeping. And because the whole run can be measured, made and fitted as one batch, the job gets done once.
The people living in these houses shape the rest of the brief. Median age is 35, and couples with children make up 52.4% of families. In a young-family house, safety glass at low sills is worth getting right, and AS 1288 is the standard that governs where it belongs. Security screens matter too, on the windows left open for breeze: we’re an authorised installer for Prowler Proof and Crimsafe, so those screens are made for the same openings. Obscure glass for a bathroom or a bedroom is chosen with the window rather than added later.
Architectural glass windows in North Lakes
Not every window job starts with a broken pane. Some come out of a renovation instead, a rear extension or a second storey going on. A house bought new in the estate’s first years has had two decades of family life happen inside a floorplan chosen for an earlier stage of it, and what people want back is more room and more light. That’s usually what they mean when they search for architectural glass windows in North Lakes. We don’t sell a range by that name. We build the same five window styles to sizes no catalogue carries, so a wall of glass onto a new living area is just another measurement. Louvre banks run Breezeway blades in Vantage aluminium systems. Every frame is cut at our own factory, so the limits come from the Vantage system and the standards rather than a supplier’s stock list. AS 1288 decides where toughened or laminated glass belongs, and we check that at the measure instead of reading it off a plan. Send the drawings through and we’ll price what’s buildable.
Superior Glass has been family owned and run since 1972, with director Nathan Fox still in the business day to day. We make what we fit. Windows are fabricated at our 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, then installed by our own crews rather than a subcontractor. Those crews hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry, which is the pairing you want when a frame comes out and the timber behind it needs making good. We’re QBCC licensed and insured. Queensland requires it: the QBCC issues a glass, glazing and aluminium licence for paid glazing work, so it’s worth asking anyone who quotes you. The window systems are Vantage, with Breezeway blades in the louvres, and installations carry our workmanship guarantee. Jobs run to the same five steps every time, from site assessment through to final inspection and handover.
