Replace the window, or just the glass?
Sometimes the glass is the only thing that’s failed. If the frame is straight and the hardware still works, re-glazing costs less and takes less time. We’ll say so if that’s your situation.
Replacing the whole window makes sense when the frame itself has gone:
- Sashes that stick, drop, or no longer lock properly
- Pitted or corroded aluminium
- Hardened seals that let water in during storms
- Frames that rattle in wind
- Single glazing you want to upgrade for heat or road noise
- An opening being reshaped during a renovation
You get that answer at the measure, before you commit to anything.
What we check when we measure
Brisbane’s older houses have moved. Timber shrinks, stumps settle, and openings that started square rarely still are. We measure every opening rather than working to a standard size, and check:
- Whether the opening is square, and by how much it’s out
- The condition of the reveal and the timber around it
- Whether the sill needs carpentry before a new frame goes in
- Access, particularly upstairs or over a deck
- Whether a security screen is going on at the same time

Made in Brendale, not ordered in
Every frame is cut and assembled at our 1,700 square metre factory in Brendale. That matters most on the openings that aren’t standard, where a stock-size window would have to be packed out, or the opening cut about to suit it.
It also means we can match what’s already there. If you’re replacing four windows on one elevation and leaving the rest, the new ones can be built to the same sightlines as the old.
Common questions about window replacement
Do you have to damage the wall to replace a window?
Usually not. Most replacements go back into the existing opening, so the wall, cladding and internal lining stay as they are. If the sill or reveal has rotted, that gets repaired first, and we tell you about it at the measure rather than on the day.
Can you replace just some of the windows in a house?
Yes, and it’s common. Rooms that get the western sun, or face a busy road, are often done first.
Can a security screen go on at the same time?
Yes. If you’re planning Prowler Proof or Crimsafe screens, tell us at the measure so the new frames are ordered to suit them.
Do you replace windows in units and commercial buildings?
Yes. Commercial glazing is part of what we do, including shopfronts and office glazing.
