Aspley windows, made just up the road in Brendale
Superior Glass has been making and installing windows since 1972. Our factory and showroom sit at Brendale, roughly 8 to 9 km from Aspley via South Pine Road and Gympie Road. Aspley jobs run as part of regular northside rounds, with a service fleet based at the factory. The people who measure your openings and the factory that makes your frames are a short drive apart, so details don't get lost in between.

Why Aspley chooses custom aluminium glass windows
When the first window fails in a 1960s Aspley house, the rest are usually close behind. Aspley was cut from farmland through the 1950s and 60s. The first residential subdivision went to market in 1952, at Gympie and Robinson Roads, and the streets filled with low-set brick homes through the 1960s and 70s. Those houses still define the suburb: separate houses make up 72.1% of Aspley’s 5,463 private dwellings. The suburb has aged with them. At the 2021 Census the median age here was 43, five years above the Queensland figure of 38.
The windows that went in when those houses were new are now 55 to 70 years old. They went in within a few years of each other, and they’ve faced the same weather ever since. So they wear out as a group. A sliding sash that jams in the kitchen this year. A frame that rattles in the front bedroom next winter. Once the first one goes, it’s worth pricing the whole house in one measured quote instead of fixing window by window, while the early failures are still cosmetic. The measure and the quote cost nothing.
There’s a catch with these houses, though. Openings from that era rarely match a current standard window size, so a stock frame either won’t fit or forces a rebuild of the opening around it. We make each window to the measured opening instead, at our 1,700 sqm Brendale factory, 8 to 9 km away. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry. That second trade matters here. Timber reveals from the 1960s, and frames that have drifted out of square, need a carpenter’s correction before the new window goes in.
One more decision belongs at replacement time. If your place sits near Gympie Road, double-glazed insulated units can go straight into the new frames. Two panes with a sealed gap slow heat transfer and cut outside noise compared with single glazing. Replacement is the easiest moment to make that call, because the old frames are already coming out.
Aluminium glass windows we make for Aspley
We make five aluminium window styles for Aspley homes: sliding, awning, casement, double-hung and louvre, built on Vantage systems with Breezeway blades for the louvres. Double-glazed windows are part of the range too, worth pricing if heat or road noise is the problem you're solving.
Common window problems we solve in Aspley
Safety glass at low sills under AS 1288
Plenty of Aspley's postwar homes have full-height or low-silled windows that were glazed decades before current rules existed. AS 1288, the Australian standard for glass in buildings, calls for Grade A toughened or laminated safety glass where a sill sits lower than 500 mm above the floor, and in glazing beside doors. Old annealed glass at body height breaks into large, sharp pieces, which is the exact risk the standard exists to remove. We check sill heights during the free on-site measure, flag where the standard applies, and build the right glass into each new unit. If you're unsure about an existing window, ask us to assess it rather than guessing.
The first replacement wave of builder-grade windows
Aspley filled with low-set brick homes through the 1960s and 70s, and the original windows all went in around the same time. Windows of the same age, facing the same weather, tend to fail close together. Fixing them one at a time spreads call-outs and mismatched frames over years, on a house that could be measured once. We quote the whole house in a single visit. Every window is then made at our Brendale factory and installed by our own crews in a planned sequence.
Custom sizing for non-standard older openings
Postwar builders framed each opening to suit the house, not a catalogue, so a 1960s Aspley opening rarely matches any current standard size. Forcing a stock frame into the wrong opening means packers, gaps, or rebuilding the wall around it. We manufacture each window to the measured width and height of your actual opening. Because our installers hold Cert III in Carpentry as well as Cert III in Glass and Glazing, out-of-square timber reveals get squared and corrected as part of the fit.
Security screens on opening windows
A new awning or sliding window in Aspley earns its keep when you can leave it open, and that's the point where most owners add security screens. A screen has to be sized to the exact window it protects. Security screens sold today should meet the current AS 5039 series, restructured across 2023 and 2024, which lifted the dynamic impact test to 200 joules. Superior Glass is an authorised installer of both Prowler Proof and Crimsafe security screens. Order the screens with your windows and each one is sized to the unit we build for that opening, supplied and fitted by the same business rather than a second contractor.

Architectural glass windows in Aspley
Renovating one of Aspley's 1960s brick homes, or knocking one down to rebuild, raises design questions that a straight window swap never asks. People searching for architectural glass windows in Aspley usually have a design-led build or renovation in mind: full-height glass under a raked ceiling, windows that turn a corner, a bank of louvres for airflow, or an opening no stock size will ever fit. We build that work from the same systems we use every day, Vantage aluminium frames and Breezeway louvre blades. Each unit is made to your measured width and height at the Brendale factory, so unusual shapes and non-standard openings run through the same process as everything else. You choose from a range of frame colours and finishes, plus glass types picked for safety and insulation. Bring the plans, or just the idea, and we'll tell you what the systems can and can't do.
Why Aspley trusts Superior Glass
Family owned, and operating since 1972. We manufacture what we install: every window comes out of our 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, and our own crews fit it. Installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing plus Cert III in Carpentry, which matters on Aspley's older timber-framed openings. In Queensland, paid glazing work legally requires a QBCC Glass, Glazing and Aluminium licence. We're QBCC licensed and insured. We build on Vantage aluminium window systems, with Breezeway blades for louvres. Window installations carry a workmanship guarantee. Each job follows the same five-step process: consultation and site assessment, design and quote, manufacturing, installation, then final inspection and handover. Reviewers often mention older windows replaced promptly and the site left tidy afterwards. Quotes are free and include an on-site measure. Call 07 3353 1588 or email sales@superiorglass.com.au.

Aluminium Glass Windows in Aspley: your questions answered
The homes that filled Aspley's streets through the 1960s and 70s were framed opening by opening to suit each wall, so very few of those openings match a modern stock window size. That mismatch is why we measure before we manufacture. Each window is built to the measured width and height of its own opening at our Brendale factory. And if decades of settling have pulled a timber reveal out of square, installers with Cert III in Carpentry as well as Cert III in Glass and Glazing correct the reveal before the new frame goes in.
It helps compared with single glazing. A double-glazed insulated glass unit is two panes of glass with a sealed gap between them, and that gap cuts outside noise as well as slowing heat transfer. Double-glazed windows are part of our range and can be built into replacement frames during a whole-house job. If your place sits close to Gympie Road, ask for a double-glazed price alongside the standard one during the free measure.
Some will. AS 1288, the Australian standard for glass in buildings, requires Grade A toughened or laminated safety glass in human-impact areas, including windows with a sill lower than 500 mm above the floor and glazing in or beside doors. Plenty of postwar Aspley homes have low-silled windows glazed long before those rules. We assess each opening during the free on-site measure and build in the glass type the standard calls for.
Generally not for a same-size replacement. Queensland adopted the NCC 2022 energy provisions, including the 7-star NatHERS rating, from 1 May 2024, and they apply to new builds and major renovations. Swapping old windows for new ones of the same size doesn't normally trigger the rule. If you're doing a major renovation, glazing is one of the strongest factors in reaching 7 stars, and we can quote performance glass for it.
Yes. Superior Glass is an authorised installer of both Prowler Proof and Crimsafe security screens, and ordering them with your windows means the screens are sized to the exact units we build for you. Screens fitted now fall under the AS 5039 series, the current Australian standard for security screens following its 2023 and 2024 restructure. Ask about screens during the free measure and quote if you want them priced alongside the windows.
No. Our only premises are the 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, roughly 8 to 9 km from Aspley via South Pine Road and Gympie Road. You're welcome to visit and see the window systems before you decide. For most Aspley customers it works the other way: we come to you for a free measure and quote, then the windows are built at Brendale and brought back for installation.
