Aluminium Glass Doors in North Lakes
Made in our Brendale factory, about 13 minutes from North Lakes.
Minutes from our factory
North Lakes doors, made just up the road in Brendale
Our factory and showroom sit at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, roughly 15 km and about 13 minutes by road from North Lakes. Door jobs out your way run as part of our regular North Brisbane and Moreton Bay runs, so a measure or an install slots into a normal working week. There's no North Lakes office, and we won't pretend otherwise; the door is made in Brendale and fitted at your place by the same company.

Why North Lakes chooses custom aluminium glass doors
When one developer masterplans a thousand hectares, the houses end up agreeing with each other. North Lakes grew out of a Lend Lease master-planned project that got moving around 1999 to 2000, so most of its housing stock went up inside a couple of decades rather than across a century. That history is useful rather than decorative when you’re quoting doors: it narrows down what a rear opening in this suburb is likely to be, and what the new door has to sit beside.
The census numbers fill in the rest. North Lakes counted 23,030 residents across 8,135 private dwellings in 2021, and 84.9% of the occupied ones are separate houses, against a Queensland average of 74.8%. Median age is 35, and just over half of all families are couples with children. Read that as detached family homes of a broadly similar vintage, with a rear opening the household has outgrown. A house like that typically needs two things from a replacement door: more glass onto the yard, and new work that doesn’t announce itself as new.
Off-the-shelf sizing is what makes the second part hard. Every door we fit is made to measure at our own 1,700 sqm factory in Brendale, roughly 13 minutes from North Lakes by road, so frame colour, finish, door style and glass panel get picked for the house in front of us instead of accepted from whatever a supplier had in stock. Sliding, stacking, frameless and custom aluminium doors all come off the same factory floor. If a security screen is going over the new door, we supply and install Prowler Proof and Crimsafe ourselves, so the screen is specified alongside the glass door and fitted by our own crew rather than retrofitted later by another contractor.
One more thing worth saying plainly. In an estate built to a coordinated brief, a door that was never sized for the opening is obvious from the yard, and no amount of trim hides it. We’ve made and installed doors as one company since 1972. The crew that measures your opening answers to the factory that builds for it, which is why the door fits.
Aluminium glass doors we make for North Lakes
Four ways to open up a North Lakes home: sliding, stacking, frameless and custom aluminium doors, plus centre-opening sliders and glass internal doors if the layout calls for it.
Common door problems we solve in North Lakes
Out-of-square openings that need a custom-built door
Frames move as buildings settle, and renovation openings in the older homes we also service around North Brisbane were often cut for doors that no longer exist. Even newer homes can end up a few millimetres out once the old door comes out. Force a stock-size door into an out-of-square opening and it'll bind or leave gaps that let weather in. We measure the actual opening, then fabricate the door to those numbers at our Brendale factory. Our installers hold Cert III in both glazing and carpentry, so squaring up the opening is part of the job, not someone else's trade.
Water getting in at the door sill during storms
South East Queensland storms drive rain sideways at exposed rear openings, and a sill that's poorly flashed or sitting low against the outside slab gives that water a path inside. Water at the sill wrecks flooring and skirting long before anyone spots where it's coming from. Every job starts with consultation and measurement at the opening itself, so sill height and flashing get looked at before anything is built. The door is then made to suit that exact opening in Brendale.
Wind-load ratings on wide door openings
Wide sliding and stacking doors put a lot of glass and frame across one opening. AS 2047, the Australian Standard for windows and external glazed doors, classifies these products by the wind pressure they must withstand for the site. A door that isn't rated for the site's wind loading is a compliance problem and a real risk in a big storm. Because we manufacture the door ourselves, frame, glass and span are specified together for the opening you actually have, rather than adapted from whatever a supplier had in stock.
Safety glass requirements in door panels
Glass in doors takes human impact, so AS 1288 requires Grade A safety glass, toughened or laminated, in door panels and in glazed panels that could be mistaken for a doorway. Ordinary annealed glass in a door breaks into large shards, which is exactly what the standard exists to prevent. Door panels are glazed at our own factory, and glass selection happens during manufacture, with AS 1288 as the governing standard for what goes into a door.

Our hinged entrance range
Architectural glass doors in North Lakes
Front entrances get their own range. Our architectural line covers hinged aluminium entrance doors, entry doors and custom entry panels for homes and commercial buildings. Panels come in single, double or multi-panel layouts, with your pick of handles, locks, hinges and privacy options. Commercial jobs get commercial-grade hardware and hinges rated for high-traffic use. If the western sun hits your entry, the ComfortEdge system is designed to cut heat transfer through the door and keep indoor temperatures steadier. Door and window installations use Breezeway and Vantage systems. For a North Lakes front door that carries the same clean lines as the rest of the estate, our architectural doors page at /glass-doors-brisbane/architectural/ sets out the panel and hardware options; pick a direction there and we'll measure from it.
Why North Lakes trusts Superior Glass
Superior Glass has made and installed glass doors since 1972 and is Australian family-owned, with director Nathan Fox still hands-on in the day-to-day. We're a manufacturer-installer: doors are built at our 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, then fitted by our own crews, so one company answers for the whole job. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry, which matters when an opening needs squaring up as well as glazing. We're QBCC licensed and insured. The QBCC requires a glass, glazing and aluminium licence for paid glazing work in Queensland, so it's worth asking any company quoting you about theirs. Most residential door installs take 1 to 2 days, with bigger commercial jobs scheduled by size and scope. And with a large service fleet working North Brisbane and the Moreton Bay corridor, a North Lakes install runs as part of a regular local run.

Aluminium Glass Doors in North Lakes: your questions answered
No. Our only premises is the factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, roughly 15 km and about 13 minutes by road from North Lakes. We don't run satellite offices in the suburbs we service. North Lakes jobs are handled on our regular North Brisbane runs, and you're welcome to visit Brendale to see the door systems before you order.
That's what the measure is for. Our aluminium range covers sliding, stacking, frameless and fully custom doors, with centre-opening sliders and glass internal doors available as configurations within it. The right pick depends on the width you're working with, how much of the opening you want clear when the door is open, and where the furniture and foot traffic already sit. We look at the opening on site, walk you through the options, then fabricate the chosen door to those dimensions at Brendale.
Once your door is manufactured, a typical residential installation takes 1 to 2 days, while larger commercial projects are scheduled by size and scope. Before install day we measure the opening, you settle frame colour and glass choices, and the door is built to those numbers in Brendale. Travel isn't a bottleneck. North Lakes sits on our regular local runs.
Yes. AS 2047, the Australian Standard for windows and external glazed doors, classifies external door products by the wind pressure they must withstand for a given site, and wide sliding and stacking openings need to meet the rating that applies to yours. AS 1288 separately requires Grade A safety glass, toughened or laminated, in door panels. Both are things we can talk you through at the measure stage.
Yes, in the same job. We supply and install Prowler Proof and Crimsafe security screen doors ourselves, so the screen is specified alongside the glass door rather than retrofitted later by another contractor. Products sold as security screens are governed by the AS 5039 series, which sets impact and pull tests. Both the glass door and the screen are fitted by our own crew, so there's no separate contractor to book once the door is in.
Generally not for a like-for-like swap. Queensland adopted the NCC 2022 residential energy provisions, including the 7-star NatHERS rating for the building shell, from 1 May 2024, and according to the QBCC this applies to new builds and major renovations. Replacing an existing door with one the same size usually doesn't trigger it. If you're planning a major renovation in North Lakes, glazing is among the most influential factors, so raise it early.
