The doors tell you how old the house is. Most of Carseldine went up through the 1980s and 90s, and the aluminium sliders fitted back then are often still in their tracks, decades on. We make their replacements at our 1,700 sqm factory in Brendale, a short run away, and our own installers fit them.
Why Carseldine chooses custom aluminium glass doors
While 900 new homes rise on the former QUT campus at 532 Beams Road, most of Carseldine is ageing in the other direction. The suburb took shape in the 1970s and did most of its growing through the 1980s and 90s, and it’s still best known for brick-and-tile homes from those decades, single and double storey, with newer 2000s houses on smaller blocks up the northern end. Roughly 71% of occupied homes here are separate houses. That mix matters for one simple reason: a separate house from that era usually still runs its original aluminium sliders.
Doors that old become the weak point of an otherwise solid house. Rollers wear flat. Tracks pit and catch. Frames corrode where decades of weather found a way in. And the openings were sized for how people lived then, a single slider onto a small patio, which is rarely how anyone wants to use a backyard now.
The Carseldine Urban Village sharpens the contrast. Economic Development Queensland is delivering around 900 homes plus retail, commercial and recreation space on the 53 ha site in stages. Those homes arrive with new glazing built in. The established streets around them only catch up when an owner decides the original doors have done their time.
That decision is the job we’re set up for. Every replacement door is made to measure at our 1,700 sqm Brendale factory, so a 1990s opening that’s moved out of square gets a door built for the opening as it is today. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and in Carpentry, which earns its keep when a frame or sill needs correcting before the new door goes in. Under AS 1288, glass in a door has to be Grade A safety glass, toughened or laminated, and the complete external door unit falls under AS 2047, the Australian Standard that covers wind loading on external glazed doors. The range runs from straight replacement sliders to stacking, frameless and custom aluminium doors, with bi-fold and centre-opening setups for entertaining areas.

Replacing the front entrance is a different job from the back slider, and it’s the job our architectural range covers. We build with Breezeway and Vantage systems, and doors can integrate ComfortEdge, a system designed to cut heat transfer through the door and keep indoor temperatures steadier. Superior Glass Brisbane has made and fitted glass since 1972. We’re Australian family-owned, and director Nathan Fox is still hands-on in the business day to day. Doors are manufactured at our own 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, then installed by our own crews. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry. Queensland law requires a QBCC glass, glazing and aluminium licence for paid glazing work, and we’re QBCC licensed and insured. AS 1288 requires Grade A safety glass in doors, and AS 2047 sets what external glazed door units have to meet, wind loading included.
