Petrie windows, made just up the road in Brendale
Our factory sits at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, roughly 8 km from Petrie and about 12 minutes by road on mapping estimates. That's the same short run for the person who measures your windows and the truck that brings them back finished, because we fabricate them ourselves. Petrie work slots into the rounds our fleet already does through the Pine Rivers corridor. The on-site measure and quote are free.

Why Petrie chooses custom aluminium glass windows
A blown double-glazed unit fails quietly. No crack, no bang. One day the glass just looks hazy, and cleaning it changes nothing, because the moisture is sealed between the two panes where no cloth reaches. That’s one of two clocks running on Petrie’s windows, and which one you’re on decides how the job gets priced.
Most of the suburb sits on the first clock. At the 2021 Census, 86.4% of Petrie’s occupied homes were separate houses, 2,719 of them. Rented homes made up 29.7%, and another 43.4% were still under a mortgage. So a lot of the window work here lands on detached houses being tidied up between tenants, or fixed by owners a few years into a loan. Those jobs are same-size replacements. A cloudy sealed unit. A pitted frame. A low sill that needs safety glass under AS 1288. Work like that generally sits outside Queensland’s 7-star energy provisions, which apply to new builds and major renovations and have been in force since 1 May 2024. Nobody needs a NatHERS assessment to replace a window that jams.
The second clock runs on the old paper mill site. Economic Development Queensland manages it as a 460 hectare Priority Development Area with the UniSC campus at its centre, and the scheme plans around 25,000 homes over time. The campus opened in 2020. A window in a new home there gets specified before the wall exists. It’s rated against AS 2047 for wind pressure at that site, and the glass gets chosen for solar heat gain, which counts for more in Brisbane than cold-climate insulation figures do.
Same suburb, two very different quotes. We work out which one you’re looking at during a free measure at your place, before anything is made. Then the window is built at our Brendale factory in one of the five aluminium styles we fabricate, sized to your actual opening rather than a catalogue. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry, which earns its keep when a forty-year-old opening has shifted out of square.
Aluminium glass windows we make for Petrie
We make five aluminium window styles at Brendale: sliding, awning, casement, double-hung and louvre. Each one is built to your opening instead of pulled off a shelf, including sizes older Petrie homes throw up.
Common window problems we solve in Petrie
Failed or foggy double-glazed units
A double-glazed unit is two panes with a sealed gap between them, and that gap does the insulating. Once the seal lets go, damp air gets in and settles on the inner faces. Most of Petrie's double glazing sits in newer builds and renovated homes, which is where the 7-star rules have been pushing it since May 2024. You paid for two panes and you're getting the noise and heat performance of one, and the haze never wipes off. At the free measure we price the sealed unit and the frame as two separate questions. If it's a like-for-like swap, we make the new unit at our own factory and the opening keeps its size, so the 7-star provisions generally stay out of it.
Corroded original aluminium or steel window frames
Petrie's detached stock has been standing a long time, and 2,719 of its occupied dwellings are separate houses. Original aluminium and steel frames pit from the weather side in, and the sliding tracks bind up with the chalky residue corrosion leaves behind. New glass in a spent frame is money paid twice, because the frame is what's jamming and letting water past. We measure the existing opening and fabricate a new aluminium frame to fit it, non-standard dimensions included. Owners preparing a house for the next tenant often take a whole elevation in one go, since those frames all went in the same year.
Safety glass at low sills (AS 1288)
AS 1288 calls for Grade A toughened or laminated safety glass in human-impact areas, including window glazing with sills lower than 500 mm above floor level. Plenty of Petrie's older houses were glazed before that was ordinary practice. Standard glass at knee height breaks into large sharp pieces, and stopping that is exactly why the standard exists. It's worth checking before a tenant moves in, and 29.7% of Petrie dwellings are rented. We flag every low sill during the measure and quote Grade A glass where the standard requires it. The glass is cut at our factory, so nothing gets swapped between the quote and the install.
The first replacement wave of builder-grade windows
Estates go up as a batch, so their windows wear out as a batch. Petrie counted 3,393 private dwellings at the 2021 Census, and 43.4% of homes are still carrying a mortgage, which fits a suburb with a lot of fairly recent buyers. Latches, seals and sashes start failing in the same season, so one repair job turns into a run of phone calls. We quote the honest scope, one window or the full set, and we'll say plainly which ones have years left in them. Replacements are made to measure on Vantage aluminium systems and covered by our workmanship guarantee.

Architectural glass windows in Petrie
Mill-area builds and bigger Petrie renovations often call for shapes no catalogue carries. Windows that run floor to ceiling. Two units meeting at a corner. A whole wall of louvres pulling air through a west-facing room. Or an opening in a 1970s house that measures nothing like a standard size. Searches for architectural glass windows in Petrie usually point at that kind of brief. We build it out of the five aluminium types we already make, fabricated to your measurements at Brendale, with the frame colour, finish and glass type picked to suit the room. Louvre banks run Breezeway blades, and we supply and install Vantage aluminium systems. On a new build the glazing spec follows AS 2047 and the energy provisions.
Why Petrie trusts Superior Glass
Superior Glass started in 1972 and is still Australian family owned, with director Nathan Fox in the business day to day. We make what we fit. Windows are fabricated at our 1,700 sqm factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale, then installed by our own crews. That factory is our only address, so there's no Petrie shopfront to call into, just a workshop about 12 minutes away on mapping estimates. Our installers hold Cert III in Glass and Glazing and Cert III in Carpentry, which counts when an old opening needs carpentry work before a new frame goes in. We're QBCC licensed and insured. In Queensland the QBCC requires a glass, glazing and aluminium licence for paid glazing work, so ask whoever else is quoting you about theirs. On windows we supply Vantage aluminium systems and Breezeway louvre blades. The measure and quote are free, and every install carries our workmanship guarantee.

Aluminium Glass Windows in Petrie: your questions answered
Yes. Queensland adopted the NCC 2022 energy provisions on 1 May 2024, and they cover new builds and major renovations. Homes going up in the Priority Development Area around the UniSC campus fall under that. Glazing is one of the biggest levers in a NatHERS rating, so the window spec gets decided with the rest of the shell. Replacing an existing Petrie window at the same size generally does not trigger it.
Sometimes the glass is the only problem and the frame is fine. Once corrosion has taken hold in an original aluminium or steel frame, new glass won't fix a unit that jams or leaks. We look at the glass and the frame separately at the measure, then quote both ways so you can see the difference. A replacement frame is fabricated at Brendale to your existing opening, non-standard sizes included.
Nearly three in ten Petrie dwellings are rented, so this comes up a lot. Look for sills lower than 500 mm off the floor, because AS 1288 calls for Grade A safety glass in those spots. Then check for haze between the panes on any double glazing, seized sliders and latches that no longer catch. We can quote per window or per elevation after a free measure.
No. Our only address is the factory and showroom at 241 Leitchs Road, Brendale. On mapping estimates that's roughly 8 km from Petrie, about 12 minutes via Dawson Parade and Gympie Road. Our service fleet already covers the Pine Rivers and Moreton Bay corridor, so Petrie jobs run inside normal local rounds from that base. You're welcome to visit the showroom and see the windows being built.
We make five styles: sliding, awning, casement, double-hung and louvre. All of them are built to custom widths and heights, including the non-standard sizing older homes and new builds throw up. You choose the frame colour and finish, then the glass type for insulation or safety. Louvre windows use Breezeway blades, and we supply and install Vantage aluminium systems.
Both. Glass repair and replacement is part of what we do, alongside new windows and double glazing. If a pane has gone and the frame is sound, that's a repair. If the frame is finished, replacement is the honest answer. A free on-site measure and quote settles it either way.
